PP has done such a good job not delivering Nautilus anymore that now people are moving to the Aquanaut?

Has that been the game plan? Uplifting the Aquanaut also to a legend status? Looking at the second hand market it seems to be in the lift as well. Not as bizarre as the Nautilus, but let’s wait and see what will happen.

I really struggle with the Aquanaut

 By: Langeholic : October 20th, 2018-02:18
It seems so blah to me....I don’t like the nautilus either but at least it has some character

Same here. I really don’t get the hype either.

I would take the Blancpain Leman Grande Date Aqua Lung instead, though the Travel Time looks fine.

It is Pateks strategy to ...

Broaden the interest in another model and rest the Nautilus. Only one big problem demand and supply of the Aquanaut has become a big mess.

I think patek are doing the right thing by not increasing supply of these models.

Thierry Stern has clearly stated that they don’t want the brand to be synonymous with a certain design or line, it being the Nautilus or the Aquanaut or any other, for that matter. That is protecting the long term value of Patek Philippe and the right thi...

The Calatrava has always been the Patek for general consumption..

Aquanaut gets more wrist time

 By: Garyhsmith : October 22nd, 2018-16:08
As someone with the 5711, 5167A and 5167R, I can tell you my Aquanauts get more wrist time than my Nautilus does. I guess it’s down to personal preference.

Probably

More than likely the way it is going

had one and it's the only Patek I ever sold

 By: Bruno.M1 : October 20th, 2018-03:08
Simply did not like it. Demand for steel watches (sportswitches) Patek en Rolex is just crazy Try to get a pepsi, GMT, Daytona, Nautilus 5 mars ? 7 years ? NUTS

True watch lovers don’t crave for hyped models and hyped brands.

They’re strong enough to resist and collect other watches, watches with more value to the watchmaking itself.

It is not that I am being an anti-conformist

 By: Langeholic : October 20th, 2018-05:40
I simply find the aquanaut to be an inferior product. The design, aesthetics, mechanism....it just doesn’t do it for me. I generally collect grand complication level timepieces, so I have no bias to any particular timepiece at the start/mid level. I get t...

Mechanism?!

324SC is the bread and butter of PP. Your analogy doesn't make sense.

.........till the bubble makes boom! The last ten years, a lot of people invested in goods, watches, garage-gold, art, etc. When the interest rates rise, the party is over.

Second possible scenario, the next crash on the stock market. I think this is not so far away. Than they need money and sell everything. Always the same.

Personally I don’t regard watches as investments..

Just things that give me pleasure

For me the most important is that i like this watch.

So i can not imagine to buy a Pepsi, because i dont like this blue-red on the insert. But i can imagine to buy it with coke or black insert, like Nicos 1675 Espresso. This Pepsi always remind me of chewing gums when i was a child, BAZOOKA. So for me it lo...

between real value and price gets ... surreal I quit the game. With pleasure. That applies to Nautilusses, Aquanauts, Pepsis and all the other hype-watches. Regardless if I could afford it. Simply as a matter of principle. Best, Thomas

The prices at the offer are surreal, but they dont sale for this prices. For me, the price is what i see in front of me on the table, CASH.

There are 1500 Nautilus, 5000 Daytonas, 3700 R.O., 9000 Panerei ..................

The most important question for me is

 By: MTR : October 20th, 2018-06:01
if I feel comfortably with the prize I have to pay. If I feel ... outsmarted or cheated I cannot enjoy what I have bought. The pleasure to own a watch for me is to WEAR a piece of art being consistent with your life and what you are (want to be). The joy ...

I think the Aquanaut would have long-ago been relegated to the dustbin of history.

I think the Aquanaut has its own character. Even at rubber strap its got its finesse and charm.

 By: geross : October 20th, 2018-13:52
The slimness of the watch is such a charm and a very comfortable watch. My opinion. I may be biased, but a happy dude. Cheers 🍻 friends. Geross. ...

So true! It’s a design of its own with DNA of Gérald Genta.

And a PP is in no way comparable with a Rolex. I love my Daytona 116500 a lot but thats’s a completely different concept of a watch.

I don't see the value in an Aquanaut model to keep an eye on it. If will rise in price - is famously, will fall - so the and be.

 By: Dmitriy : October 20th, 2018-14:52
For me personally, the best sports steel watch over $10,000 - Daytona. Sorry for the platitudes.

Aquanaut

I think we all vary in terms of how we determine a watch purchase. For some, what represents "value" will vary enormously compared with others. Since there are so many factors that are purely subjective, I am not sure anyone can really be definitive. A mu...

Appeal of the Aquanaut.

 By: BMR : October 21st, 2018-09:39
At one point, I did not like the look of the Aquanaut, but over the years it grew on me. When I had the opportunity to put one on I knew what I was going to do. I felt silly because I had been critical of it for a long time, but love is love. I love steel...

I have one! How many of us do?

 By: westrop : October 21st, 2018-10:17
I find I wear mine all the time: despite having plenty of choice! I don’t know why I like it but I do. It has real charm. It gets to you... it should not attract a premium but I get why it does. I think it will become an icon.
