Let me as usual be honest and direct: there are FAR fewer people than you would imagine who REALLY love the Nautilus, and many of them bought it BEFORE Instagram decided that everyone has to have it...

While there are obviously LOTS of genuine collectors, as you can see on this very site, many of the folks who "chase" a Nautilus today ("seek" probably conveys the correct affection in English) remind me of this hilarious meme circulated right after the last Antiquorum auction...
Do I like the green Nautilus, the apparent object of desire of much of the watch world today? Oh, of course I do -- I love most Pateks, and this simple, gorgeous model is no exception! And I'm sincerely happy for all REAL collectors who won the tough contest and were chosen to receive one! But did I apply for it? Not a chance! AND, read my lips -- if ever offered one, I'll happily indicate another name.
As Patek (and watch) enthusiasts, I think we have an obligation to never forget the real world that hides behind the insanity we see on display on Instagram or at the auctions....a remarkably deep and diverse watch catalog, which is the REAL reason why Patek is the undisputed #1 watch brand on this planet!
Hope my point of view will help, among others. Regardless, my sincere thanks for provoking an interesting discussion with your genuine "rant," Thomas, which is already bringing up many different (and equally good) perspectives on this "hot" topic! ;-) I'm moving it over to Patek to spice things up even more
Cheers.
