Dealers in Patek seem only to care about production numbers as commission on a bigger number is frankly a bigger number and financial collectors are enamored with “the number of examples”. Not exactly the language of enthusiasts. But for the true enthusiast this is objectively a spectacular example of design and execution. I love this watch. How best to put this? It’s classy not blingy. It’s not trying to stand out. But it stands out. And for me that’s the mark of a good watch.

Like you, I am not the biggest Patek fan. Only a few watches please me, and a lot, like the 5110P, the 5100, the 5070, the 5970, the 5960, and a very few others.
I much prefer some of their older references. As for this 5235, I am not a fan at all. The dial is full of holes. But it is just my personal taste, my friend. And I totally understand that some others can be very pleased with this one. Best, Nicolas

Thank you for this love letter to the 5235G. To me, one of the most original releases in Patek’s modern history. The dial treatment and case are fantastic and the movement significantly better finished than anything that is not a PCC or up.
I agree with you - this is not for everyone but would add a bit of flair to any larger Patek collection. I wonder how many were made given the production issues from 2011 before it actually hit the market in 2014 and how this watch will be looked upon in ...
