I DO NOT AGREE...
If you judge love by AD inventory (at least in NA and EU) you may think no one wants these pieces. However, in my experience same will go for 5159, 5140, 5496, 5139, 5960, 5167......(and the list goes on). I am based in the US but travel frequently to the EU and Asia.
I think a weak economy combined with recent (almost 30% price increase in 2 years due to CHF appreciation) makes the inventory levels at all ADs very high. Patek probably still requires the AD to purchase a minimum amount each X period to maintain an AD status... and hence it appears no one likes 5170 and other pieces.

in my opinion...
the reason is the high price, and the fact that there is no longer a limit as to the number of movements that can be manufactured by PP, in comparison to the Lemania based movements of the 5070.

Hi, I don't remember the launch of the 5070 or at least if itwas easily available but I've been proposed a 5070R and 5970R at the Paris salon in 2005 and I was not a customer. I love the 5170. I would get it if I could. Best Dje

I found your post. You wrote however that you prefer 5960 to 5170. How about 5960R with white dial that was just released? Would you take that over the 5170? Also, I was surprised to hear that you had issues with the movement in 5170 after 2 months only! ...
