I love this watch
and have it. As of late, the market place has been soft, to say the least, on this reference. I do believe down the road they will be quite the collectible. I wear the watch daily and it is a joy to own and wear. People just like the larger 5070 at 42mm and the fact it is Lemania. The sharp edge bezel may be a concern but the case is classic Patek on many references. As happens so often, a new watch comes out and the investor insider/elite grab them all up sealed to resell and the average Joe has to wait. If the investors get nervous they sell all at once, so there are deals out there. Once they are gone, who knows, but we have a nice watch to wear for the present and that is the best of the equation.
No love for 5170?

in my opinion...
the reason is the high price, and the fact that there is no longer a limit as to the number of movements that can be manufactured by PP, in comparison to the Lemania based movements of the 5070.

Hi, I don't remember the launch of the 5070 or at least if itwas easily available but I've been proposed a 5070R and 5970R at the Paris salon in 2005 and I was not a customer. I love the 5170. I would get it if I could. Best Dje

Thank you for your input in my question. I can foresee that 5170 will also become a rare bird eventually. I do love that watch.

I found your post. You wrote however that you prefer 5960 to 5170. How about 5960R with white dial that was just released? Would you take that over the 5170? Also, I was surprised to hear that you had issues with the movement in 5170 after 2 months only! ...
