I think you did well, not so much for the reasons you mentioned, as they are purely personal. The 5712 is an improved version, but the slimmest case of the 3712 makes it quite special... and produced in much less quantities.
Now the question is how much one would pay for that 
10k? its ok, if its a watch you love and you are going to keep for a lifetime.

Looks like quite a bit of difference that does not meet the eye. THE reason that PP moved to a 2 piece case construction form the original Genta 2 peice is just cost driven or was there perhaps a deemed flaw?

I am looking at my 5712 and it looks to me that even though the case is made of three parts the only way to open it is from the shoulders.
