I remember when I has a 5146P... and
someone asked what the differences were between it and the G models... ultimately, the details matter to very few. It was interesting to read the full-blown differences by dr. kol. But at the same time, I have to chuckle, because the watches are damned near identical, despite all those distinctions... 10k more? Hmmmm. The meaningful difference is that 10K I'd submit. That, and the fact that Patek made much fewer of the 3712.

Looks like quite a bit of difference that does not meet the eye. THE reason that PP moved to a 2 piece case construction form the original Genta 2 peice is just cost driven or was there perhaps a deemed flaw?

I am looking at my 5712 and it looks to me that even though the case is made of three parts the only way to open it is from the shoulders.
