The 'Other Side' of the coin is....

The internet has greatly helped many companies. From lower cost in marketing reach to also informing a far higher amount of enthusiasts with ease. Same with building mailing lists, and in communication via a VIP email list. Many independents have greatly thrived due to the internet's ability to spread 'word of mouth' info. Smart companies, like Czapek for example, have been very transparent with videos showcasing their movements, the actual watchmakers who help produce their mechanical masterpieces, etc. IMHO some companies are falling behind in bringing to the forefront WHY their timepieces are ___ via videos as Czapek does.
Another benefit of the internet, serial defects in a mechanical timepiece product are now far easier to 'figure out' as group-think brings shared knowledge.
Tend to look at the positives, because "it's the animal you feed" that grows stronger.
Le's help Panerai succeed.
Would be great to see higher transparency from Panerai, from their 9010 'Evolution' movement to detailed and well-produced videos showcasing the watchmakers who create and build their most-used movement(s). Let's see some factory videos of them creating the actual parts, etc. The watch world is discussing transparency this weekend, am looking forward to Panerai showcasing the difference between say, their 9010 with hacking seconds movement and non-hacking 9010 ' Evolution' movement. Personally requested info on it, as did a few press-member friends of mine, and we need to ask ourselves "Why is Panerai not giving this information to their customers?"
Sure there's more, yet let's start with company transparency as that seems to be the topic of the weekend.
