Glass houses....

that's where we live nowadays. The social networks phenomenon, has stripped everyone of us of our privacy. Busy bodies can't wait to catch people, companies, so called V.I.P.s red handed and splash them on the pages of every mean of communication there is. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against living in a more "transparent" world, where surprises are limited to what's inside a....chocolate Easter's egg. What I frown upon, on occasions, is the reason behind the deep "investigations", the tones that are used and the self serving sensationalism that a number of bloggers resort to. All in name of a handfull of likes or reaffirmation of personal egos or downright self..adulation smile Whatever you write on a social media channel, is bound to find a number of..followers. The responsability of the writers, bloggers or (my teeth are already gritting as I write the following word) INFLUENCERS, should be based on intellectual honesty and integrity. It's very simple to take things out of context and go to town on them. If Panerai or a myriad of other young companies, will still be in business 50 or 100 years down the road, they might look back at this particular period of their business life as: the time when youthful mistakes were made. When Omega or Longines or Zenith or Rolex were 25 years old companies, there were but a handful of people that KNEW what type of faux pas they might have perpetrated. A handful of people that had no chance of splashing these abominiums all over the place. A handful of people that might have not even have been "bothered" by it and accepted it supinely. Who knows? No bloggers, no influencers, no super duper sleuths on "the bone". After all that, let me be absolutely clear about my personal position on Panerai. I have bought the last of my 36 Panerais (some of them no longer with me) in 2014 and that is exactely what will remain: THE LAST. I don't see eye to eye on several decisions that were made, in the Panerai's "buttons room", over the last few years and I have signified it by simply no buying their products anymore. I simply will not join any "tarring and feathering" festival, be it against Panerai or Sergio's Corp or Sergio's Inc or Whatchamicallit LTD etc etc. in order to regale the world with MY truth smile

P.S. The above is my PERSONAL opinion on the world I'm surrounded by and NOT that of WatchProsite or it's management.

I’m sorry to hear that you feel this way about Panerai …

Clearly something more is behind this.

It goes back to Bonati's days....

As you are the Panerai Moderator Can I ask why at this point you feel this way ?

+1. I'm curious as well.

And Panerai isn't the worse offender. Lots of even worse offenders out there! From small independents to large brands.

With regards to the influencer/social media distraction. I like that I can go on an app and see a video to watch reviews and get a better feel for a piece. For example I have no AD (except rolex) in my town so I rely on this. However, when I see people wh...

If they drive away enough of their loyal supporters once the tides turn and watches aren't as strong on the secondary market they will have a problem. The influencer crowd will dry up, hopefully some of the passionate patrons remain. - Kevin

It's about transparency and honesty. And just when you really love a brand (and I still like Panerai for many reasons), it must be possible to openly and transparently address and discuss "annoyances“. If not here on this wonderful website, then where?? P...

It is really about TRUST. Transparency is just one way to build trust for brands that don't already have it or, sadly, who have lost it.

Removing a function is a spec downgrade. Stop-seconds is a function, and the direction is to add hacking, not remove. The latest PP Calatravas add it. Brands highlight when their tourbillons have it. One can go on. Thus far, I'm not into Omega, so I can't...
