I ordered a dark gray distressed gator strap for my Duometre Chrono too!

I went with blue contrast stitching so I already voted for option 1 with my wallet. One thing also considered was an asymmetric stitching pattern - silver stitching on the left and blue (gold for you) stitching on the right to match the dial layout with silver time subdial hands on the left and blue chrono hands on the right. It seemed like a unique opportunity to subtly coordinate dial and strap but that might have been a little much so I went a little more traditional - maybe next time.
HOWEVER, if I had a black dial chronographe instead of white, I would pull the trigger on an Apollo style perforated motorsports inspired strap without hesitation. I think that Apollo strap looks awesome and I like where your head is at! I'm still considering this style strap too in black over blue or maybe blue over gray/silver. I get where your wife is coming from, most people see the Duometre as a dress watch without a second thought. When I look at the Duometre Chronographe though with the flying foudroyante, dedicated but separate time and chrono subdials, and largish case, I see a precision timing device that I imagine would look right at home in 60s era motorsports timing laps from the pits, especially in the black dial variant (not sure if a pink/yellow gold version could pull that off). I guess we all see different things in our watches but to me the Duometre Chronographe design focuses more on the chrono functionality than most, and ethos almost halfway between traditional chronos from PP, Lange, and VC and something chrono dominant like the recent Singer chronos.
