MB&F total honesty?

Hmm.
Here is a quote from page one of the press release for the LM101 Frost...
"While award-winning independent watchmaker Kari
Voutilainen took responsibility for the movement’s fine
finishing and fidelity to the horological past, its architecture
and construction were developed in-house by MB&F."
Anyone reading that could very reasonably believe that Kari hand finished all the movements personally. I certainly did when I bought one.
But on page two of the press release (like anyone reads that far...) we find out that isn't the case -
"While the movement was developed entirely in-house,
acclaimed master watchmaker Kari Voutilainen assumed
responsibility for ensuring the movement’s historical
accuracy of the bridge design, as well as defining and
supervising the fine finishing."
So we move from "took responsibility for the movement's fine finishing" to "defining and supervising".
Both are totally factually correct. Both are actually saying the same thing, as long as you don't make any leap of faith based on the words you have read, and take them explicitly and literally verbatim.
There is no lying here.
But just because something isn't a lie, it doesn't make it a truth.
Here's how Hodinkee interpreted things on the introduction of the original LM101 -
"But that's not to say MB&F didn't call upon a few friends to help with some finishing – the LM101, just like the LM1 and LM2, is hand finished to an insanely high level by Mr. Kari Voutilainen."
Do you, as I, find it surprising even today, this error hasn't been corrected? Surely MB&F's PR department would have read that. And yet...
