Price is determined by what people are willing to pay.  If Roger, or any of them, can sell at that price, then there are obviously people willing to pay the price.  I'm don't think there can be any meaningful discussion about the relative costs of labour, materials, manufacturing costs etc, as my guess is they're not significant factors in the price differences.

I'm not sure that Roger's connection with Daniels is a major factor.

My guess is that the major factor is the absurd increase in the price of luxury watches of the last half dozen years.  When the original Simplicity series came out, the pricing was adapted to the market price of the time.  The market prices have since exploded, and the price of the Roger Smith Series 2 probably reflects this overall increase.

This is just my guess based on gut feeling.  I'm not sure of the cohronology of the pricing timing and the various watches you mention.  Can someone else comment?
