This type of question has been raised before. The point is that if one
does not appreciate the difference between a) knowing that a watchmaker
has personally produced a watch just for you, and b) a production line
model, then one should avoid independant watchmaking as a whole. Anyone
who has purchased a watch directly from the watchmaker, rather than
from a company, retailer or marketing guru will tell you that it is a
special experience.
I am willing to bet that RS isnt making profit at that price point
(considering the costs involved), so taking into account the
craftsmanship that goes into a series II - my opinion is that its a
bargain.
