John - my friend…

I think you are stretching a bit in your post.

First - observatorie is the name of the watch. The pesaux 260 WAS originally made as an observatorie grade movement. Never, at least in all my conversations with Kari and in reading the literature and examining my paperwork from Kari were any of my watches to be of 'observatorie' timing specifications.

It's late - my mind is blank - but I'm sure there are hundreds of watches with model names that have a meaning which may not have to do with the watch or it's performance.

There is a bit of romantic marketing in the name. Marketing sells product.

For the record - I have a 27 with the Longines observatory grade movement and a special observatorie on order with the 260 As the base - and under no uncertain terms was I promised a watch which would meet observatorie time trial standards, nor would I expect it to.

I think you are making a backhanded complement to a watch which you praised when ordering and seeing parts and upon delivery but now, from your postings, may not own any longer. As we are friends, I am not trying to start trouble but I don't think it's fair how you are making certain incenuations about This watch.

If your question is pure - ok - ( then I will apologize) - but there is no need to state that it should be expected to preform to a certain standard when the maker has never made this promise.

The Key aspect of Kari's watchmaking is the fact he takes vintage movements and refinishes them (arguably) to some of the highest standards the industry has seen since Dufour. That's it.

If I've missed something - which I very well may have, please do let me know. I didn't find out that Kari was doing the observatorie in bensacon testing until Felipe posted about it. In fact - there was no observatorie except for in the UK (I think) which was preforming this testing when Kari announced the watch and took the initial orders.

The watch is a pretty, simple design which is finished well and uses a vintage movement which was originally designed to compete in the trials. It is made by one of the worlds greatest restorers of vintage watches. It points to years past. Leave it at that.

Written in the spirit of friendship, good debate and respect my friend.

Best regards,

Adam
