Hi all,
If I manage an Excel spreadsheet with all the watches I own and owned, I’ve never calculated the average and median sizes (excluding crown) of my round watches until today.
Among the 21 round watches (already a relevant sample I think with mainly modern watches and few vintage ones) I own today, the smallest one has a case size of 35mm and the biggest one 42mm.
That gives an average of 37.7mm and a median (50% of my watches are above this number and 50% below) of 37mm. These figures could, maybe, appears small compared to today’s watch industry “standards”.
Regarding all the round case watches I owned, the average is quite similar (38.1mm) while the median is 37.5mm with min and max watches at 33mm and 44mm respectively.
With a left wrist size of 18cm (almost 7.1 inches) and regarding the average size of the watches I still own today, that gives a ratio of 4.8.
What are your figures?
Could it be a good sign of our preferences (dressy vs sporty, modern vs vintage...)?
Are our respective figures and ratios (wrist size vs average round watch size) close or not?
Thank you for your participation. I’m impatient to know your results and thoughts and discuss about this topic.
Best wishes
Alkiro
