I think every watch addict has a spreadsheet to track watches past and present, serial numbers, buy and sell price and sometimes even ratings but I’ve never heard of anyone tracking median sizes! Hahaha
My overall smallest was 36 l, my largest 44 but in today’s taste I’m very much firmly placed in the 39-41 camp. Quantities of each will skew the numbers to which I would need to do the math but with 1 @ 39, 2 @ 41 and 3 @ 40 it will lean towards the larger end of the scale.

Your both figures make sense in my opinion as you have distinguished classy and sporty timepieces. I didn’t do it as I don’t really own sporty timepieces (my ROO? Maybe but it’s below 40mm)

My smallest are 2 x 37 mm
and the largest is 42 mm. All others are between 39 mm and 40.5 mm. Without deeper analyses I would say that the average is 39.0 - 39.5 mm. Often 37 mm feels a bit small while 42 mm feels a bit big. My dream size is 39.5 mm which suits well to my chicken ...

I normally would not buy 42 mm
but when I got an opportunity to get Patek 5070P London Edition, Could not refuse. This watch does not look too big on my wrist but I feel better with watches of 39.5 mm like 5170P. Best, Kari

for vintage it averages at around 33-34mm for modern around 39-40mm My smallest (vintage) is 31mm and my biggest (modern) is 46mm CC

Due to nearly all sportive watches in last 5 years and the industry norm, my recent purchased mean diameter is 43mm. I guess my whole collection over 20 years is nearer 40mm. Regards MTF

Compared to me, your wrist size is slightly smaller than mine but your average case size (I took 40mm) is much more significant which gives a weaker ratio (4.3 vs 4.8)

I have three watches under 37mm and one that is 40mm. My wrist size is about 6.4 inches.
Regarding your wrist size (15.2 cm or 6.4 inches), the ratio with your average case size is close to 4 which could appear consistent

The average size of all my watches is 39.9 mm
I only own round or almost round watches. Minimum Diameter is 38mm, Maximum is 43-44mm. All Dress watches are 38-40mm, all Sports watches are 39-44mm.
18.5cm is my wrist size
I have to add, that my wrist is Not round, but more flat, so I can wear larger watches. Also, I'm almost 2m tall, so small watches below 38mm look silly on me.

Alkiro, With a range of 37.0 to 42.0, my collection has a mean of exactly 40.0. With a more systematic survey of a larger sample, it would be interesting to look at the relationship of mean watch size to age. Park

While lying in bed at 5 AM with the iPhone calculator as my tool the mean comes to 38,5mm from 24 pieces I thought about. Smallest 33mm, largest 45mm, with 8 at 40mm or more and the rest below. Wrist of 17,5cm. Hope this helps.

The range is 35-45, with a definite skew lower. Just one at 45. One at 42. A lot between 39-41. A lot between 35-38. Mode at 40. Mean at 38-39.
