Hi all, If I manage an Excel spreadsheet with all the watches I own and owned, I’ve never calculated the average and median sizes (excluding crown) of my round watches until today. Among the 21 round watches (already a relevant sample I think with mainly ...
If we consider a roughly 39.5/40mm average size for all your timepieces in your collection, what’s the ratio with your wrist size? Thank you for your input Alex. Best wishes Alkiro
and the largest is 42 mm. All others are between 39 mm and 40.5 mm. Without deeper analyses I would say that the average is 39.0 - 39.5 mm. Often 37 mm feels a bit small while 42 mm feels a bit big. My dream size is 39.5 mm which suits well to my chicken ...
Well, if I summarise, your wrist size (200mm) / average watch size (39.5mm) ratio is above 5 but regarding your wrist size (mine is more chicken than yours with 2cm less), that makes sense. Interesting to note too that your extreme sizes are concentrated ...
but when I got an opportunity to get Patek 5070P London Edition, Could not refuse. This watch does not look too big on my wrist but I feel better with watches of 39.5 mm like 5170P. Best, Kari
But it is beautiful. Suits you very well in my opinion, at least judging by your wrist shots. I think size isn’t the important thing, it’s the design of the watch and how you wear it. For example I’m not a ‘huge watch’ guy, but my Radiomir suits me perfec...
I went from wearing my Submariner, Daytona and Seiko to wearing a 48mm Hublot King Power ( I have three now ). Still, most of my newer watches run about 45mm which I think wear well for me. Today, infant: ...
Shows an increase in size. Dress ones average 40mm. Sport watches 44+mm. The fact is that my wife keeps an eye on anything less than 40mm. As we speak, she was trying my Omega Central Tourbillon!!! Fear!!! Cheers, Nilo
Your two figures could appear quite big (at least for me). But, which is more interesting is the increasing trend. Ultimately, as you own modern watches, they follow the watch size trend of these last years. Best wishes Alkiro
alkiro, It would take some effort to gather and measure all my round watches so I chickened out. My current smallest is 30mm and largest is 46mm (but I've reached 49mm before). Roamer 30mm The mode is 42mm as exemplified by the L.U.C 1963 Chrono PuristS s...
Due to nearly all sportive watches in last 5 years and the industry norm, my recent purchased mean diameter is 43mm. I guess my whole collection over 20 years is nearer 40mm. Regards MTF
I have to add, that my wrist is Not round, but more flat, so I can wear larger watches. Also, I'm almost 2m tall, so small watches below 38mm look silly on me.
Easy because I have three watches in my current collection and two of them are either square or rectangular. My only round watch is the Patek 7200 London Edition which is 34.6mm. I hope to add the Patek skeleton (3878J) by August and that watch is 31mm. T...
as I have only had 4 hours of sleep in the past 48 hours. I am so jet lagged that Malaysians have been moaning about the heat here and I have just arrived from zero celsius London and thought the weather was quite pleasant here
of me being able to afford a Patek minute repeater than to recover from my perpetual jet lag! But I am getting better as I now sleep at 4.30am instead of 8am!! So I shall keep you company when you post on the forum
Alkiro, With a range of 37.0 to 42.0, my collection has a mean of exactly 40.0. With a more systematic survey of a larger sample, it would be interesting to look at the relationship of mean watch size to age. Park
What am I, a first-year analyst? Kidding, of course, my dear friend. Without doing the spreadsheet (I do enough anyway), I would say some where around 40mm. This is just an eyeball, but I might have to do this exercise when the time allows, sounds interes...
Don’t forget that homework are not really homework if they’re based on a passion. Impatient to know your results my dear intern LOL. Best wishes Alkiro
I no longer own any square waiting watches since selling my Monaco. My dress watches (3) average 36.9 mm across the round of the case and the sports watches (3) average 41.5. My smallest is my Vacheron 7397 at 34.9 across. My wrist are a puny 17.5 cms. Lu...
34 mm is an old Ebel time zone which i've been given as temporary watch from a big-hearted friend. Actually too small to read it properly, but it's a precious gift. I'd say my current watches are 36 (Gp 8010) and 38 mm of an old Zenith Pilot defy , so it'...
Definitely too many for me. I wish one day i'll be able to afford the Dato (new or old model would fine as well), but it's more likely for me to buy the new octo
Lately I only wear 40mm and below. It's been years since I don't wear anything larger. I tried with the Seamaster 300, but its 41mm, plus its height, were too much for me. I feel comfortable with anything between 37 to 40mm, and the thinner, the better. T...
Almost 41mm for you, I’m not surprised at all. What’s your watch in 36mm? Two 38.8mm watches. I can guess your Moser. What’s the other one? 🤔 Best wishes Alkiro
I think every watch addict has a spreadsheet to track watches past and present, serial numbers, buy and sell price and sometimes even ratings but I’ve never heard of anyone tracking median sizes! Hahaha My overall smallest was 36 l, my largest 44 but in t...
Your average size (at least for the last 6 watches) is slightly above 40mm but your dispersion is very weak here. Interesting. Thank you Best wishes Alkiro
This year, that average will likely be lowered with the addition of a piece to round out my collection My wrist is approx 6.5 to 7” so the ratio would be about 4.1? Maybe I’m wrong... I’m mathematically impaired at times.
My average gets skewed a bit by the sportier tool watches that are half of my collection. 37-38mm to me is really a perfect size for my smaller wrists, but I find some larger watches irresistible. I think my average will tend to come down with future addi...
While lying in bed at 5 AM with the iPhone calculator as my tool the mean comes to 38,5mm from 24 pieces I thought about. Smallest 33mm, largest 45mm, with 8 at 40mm or more and the rest below. Wrist of 17,5cm. Hope this helps.
As we have almost the same wrist size, that gives you a ratio of 4,5 (slightly lower than I). We are made to get on well together 😁 I don’t know if it works with Tartares 😋😉 Best wishes Alkiro
