It’s always nice to have a blue dial 5711 together with the green, for example. Or have all shades of a JLC TT31 even if you know you’re just gonna wear the black dial one 8 times out of 10. Of course, on the flip side, no harm in just enjoying the fact that one has a set. Horses for courses, as it were.
Personally, while money is a consideration and hate the idea of having a watch that just sits on the box.. I’m also too lazy to sell or sometimes, nostalgia holds me back.
So I guess I’m getting to that point where a watch purchase should be something that has this gollum-like attraction even if it’s outside my comfort zone. Right now, I’m liking the idea of a 2-tone Rolex bluesy even if i am mainly a ss guy. Also like champagne dials and wish they’d come out with a ss Datejust, 38-39mm, NOT 2 tone, champagne dial variant. At the moment, I’m in a holding pattern and will wait for that next big love to hit me on the head. And, yes, may even necessitate parting with some pieces that I currently have, stories, nostalgia and memories be damned
