I remember the Zenith Natif days. To me it felt like when you gave a chld something of substance and you had to watch them slowly destroy it.
I think the situation with Breguet is a bit different; at least to me. I think there is a little bit of "money can't buy you love" (I am dating myself) going on out there. In that a corporation can throw a tremendous investment in R&D, Manufacturing and Marketing at a "brand" but at this level it must feel genuine and the details about the product must be transparent and comparable to competitors otherwise something feels "wrong". It’s like going out on a date with someone who brags and talks about vapid subjects despite the fact that they are good looking and intelligent. Watches must pull at a prospective WIS owner and never be pushed. I am sure that many non-WIS just buy what they like or perceive to be of status.
So perhaps “respect” was not the best word. It is what is different about the products that Breguet offers from ALS, AP, PP and VC (aside from design language) that causes WIS when they are compared to in most cases always choose another brands watch? It is in some cases influenced by aesthetics, but some of the factors that have been discussed in this thread provide me with the sense that many WIS feel that it is not an authentic brand but a creation of a corporation, whereas while the brands which some are also part of large corporations are considered authentic. I think that it may be this.
I really have enjoyed people’s comments.
