On the model I tested...
...I never noticed a significant lag in the date change. I think you'd be pleased. I'm not big into the whole polishing thing, so the buckle engraving isn't a concern for me. I wore the watch all over the place, so it's a robust timepiece that can stand up to just about anything you can dish out during a day at the office or running around town doing errands.
