Welcome, Mike! What an interesting first post...
... raising some points that are always creating a lively debate. So let me add my thoughts, although I am clearly not one of "the more knowledgeable".
Personally I believe that it will be hard to find an unbiased opinion. Besides finishing and decoration there are so many different aspects to consider when deciding what appears superior to yourself.
The overall design language, rarity, service, price point,... this list can go on and on.
Each manufacturer of fine timepieces that has managed to create watches that pass the test of time should receive respect. Breguet in particular has two identities that both qualify, the Type XX as an aviation watch with history, and the beautifully refined classic pieces which contain such a strong character.
So, if you love those watches, do not care about how others perceive ranking. If for instance Patek watches do not sing to me, they are low in my personal ranking, and that's all that matters to me.
Again, welcome to this wonderful place!
Cheers
Henrik

I wanted to thank you all for your replies. I, of course, was in no way looking to incite a brand war, even though my use of levity and sarcasm my have suggested otherwise. I was however looking to gain some enlightenment from all of you who have far grea...

I think the great posts more knowledgeable folks have made are a testament to why this site is such a pleasure to visit. As several have said, follow your heart. For me, you can really see how much the late Nicolas Hayek, head of Swatch, really made resto...
