Waymo Review

That is, a full month of using the service almost every single day to total 40 rides covering 518 miles and 1,816 minutes of ride time. The cost for this autonomous riding privilege was right around $1,300. My overall impression is truly positive and encouraging of others trying the service out for themselves! As anything, it has its positives and negatives, but the positives genuinely outweigh the goofy and seldomly inane mishaps. The rides are largely smooth, error-free and exceptionally safe - easily safer than being driven by a random human being. The vehicle had jerked only once, was kicked by a delinquent kid only once, and got 'stuck' behind a stalled vehicle in front of it only once smile. Otherwise, the sole consistent 'error' the cars tend to make is to excessively slow down, sometimes to a complete halt, because they sense a person is either walking/running or riding a bicycle in the bike lane next to the road. On the other end of the spectrum, I have witnessed the cars make maneuvers so tight that even some people wouldn't be able to pull them off, and make left turns on changing lights that were dangerously close to red! All in all, it's the way of the future as the late Howard Hughes would have said.... Try it out if it's available (or when it becomes available) in your neck of the woods, you won't be disappointed! Cheers, Filip
