Aymen, I'll share my opinions which may give some insight to your ponderings.

 

I am late 40s, never owned a BMW. I have wanted a sporty car for some time now, and with the mad push to seemingly get everyone in an electric car, I want a gas guzzling powerful motor while they are still made.I have been trying to get a Cadillac Blackwing for 5 months now without luck, and about 6 weeks ago decided to expand my search. I ideally wanted a 2 door coupe instead of a sedan anyways, which the M4 is. I have always found BMWs to look "classy", but not overly "sporty". That's why I love the new grill. It is a aggressive and sporty, without being outrageously attention getting like a Corvette. I love to see cars like that, but would never drive one. I also wanted a good level of refinement, so cars like a GT500 are not for me. I feel this car successfully fills the gaps on my desires - awesome performance, sporty looking, refined, but still under the radar. It is available in RWD with a manual, but I went for the auto and AWD.
I doubt I compose a demographic, but there you go smile

I'd like an "acid green" Lamborghini Huracan. But I'd settle for a grey one with acid green brake calipers and acid green stitching on the interior!

Paint is fine...

The issue is that these design decisions must be a function of some kind of polling/market research that showed a preference for this design. They must have heard the “beaver teeth” comment at some point before along the design process, no?

But it makes me wonder what alternative ideas they were considering and presenting such that this was the winning design. It may be that they are targeting a certain strategic demographic that indicated a liking for this design element. I don’t know, but ...

Thank you, Michael. Your sentiments and reasoning all make sense, and I can easily share that perspective on this new BMW design element.

I think the G series M3/4 is intentionally designed radically to show leap of advancement

Even the quad trapezoidal exhaust in M is also radical. Accepted by the avant gardist, detested by the classicist 😁 Perhaps they will smoothly morph the vertical kidney design by the H or I series. IMHO this is one the most beautiful car nose. Radical yet...

I don’t think I’d want to drive it though ! Is that the Sao Paolo Yellow? One of the two choices which don’t cost extra?
