4 watch collection?

Feb 09, 2024,04:05 AM

My mother always said “if you don’t have anything nice to say….” But since you asked….no! Of the above…life is too short to have four watches in precious metals and blue dials. If you said “forty watches”, game on! I’d take a Daytona, Datograph, PP perpetual (240 caliber) variant and an AP RO variant of some sort if held to four. Pick your metals but not all rose gold.

Are these too similar to keep both.

I am trying to keep to a 4 watch collection. ...

Yep, to my eyes anyway

Yes, since you are aiming for a 4 watch collection

Keep the PF, lose the AP

+1

Yes, I believe so.

 By: NautNut : February 8th, 2024-15:37

i would keep AP!

way too similar the two

Very similar

Prefer the PF for the date position and less bulky pushers

Perhaps

MTC: Similarities: precious metal, complications, dial collar Dissimilarities: design, recognition, popularity, bracelet/strap I would think there would be room in a collection for both but if you insist on a four watch collection, one may have to go.

So, where are the other two?

This is the 4

Thinking of a ss offshore to replace one ...

Lovely GP and Moser!

Thanks

No more Breguet?

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : February 8th, 2024-18:57

Regret letting that go

 By: shafran : February 8th, 2024-19:38
I have an opportunity to trade into another

It is very nice.

It’s hard to capture on my phone camera, but so nice to wear ...

Wow, I have no idea how you could distill down to just 4…

 By: ArmisT : February 9th, 2024-00:32
but they are fantastic👌🏽

Getting rid of the ROC and replacing it with an Offshore makes good sense.

 By: MichaelC : February 9th, 2024-03:33
I like the PF more than the ROC, without question. Now if it were the current 41mm ROC with new movement and proper date location, I would keep the AP.

Keep the PF!

agreed

100%

Looking at the 4 watch collection...

 By: Gregineugene : February 8th, 2024-16:49
...not crazy about the pushers on the AP but I prefer the contrasting sub-dials on the AP vs PF. But if you get the ss Off Shore you'll be heavy on AP...arguably not the worst scenario one could find one's self in but still if variety's a consideration......

Wearing th parm now

 By: shafran : February 8th, 2024-17:05
And wondering if i sho uld just stand pat. Ap is thinner. Parm has higher wr ...

Maybe not too similar?

4 watches is not enough space for two chronographs

 By: jaspermccrea : February 8th, 2024-17:27
Let alone two solid gold, blue faced chronographs. The PF is more low key, and to my eye, slightly prettier. Choice between the two might depend on the other three watches you keep. But you're brave trying to cut down to 4.

I would keep the AP.

 By: ZSHSZ : February 8th, 2024-18:23
You had a couple before and it seems that you returned so that should mean something…

Definitely keeping the ap

 By: shafran : February 8th, 2024-19:36
It is my grail. Cant decide on parm

Put them both up for sale

 By: EinPa : February 8th, 2024-20:03
and keep the one that gets the most inquires and sell the other

So literally no interest

 By: shafran : February 10th, 2024-00:58
In the parmigiani. ap is easy to sell. So based on that...

While that

 By: EinPa : February 11th, 2024-11:03
May not be the right aesthetic choice for you, it’s probably the right choice from a collector’s perspective

Yes

4 watch collection?

I had daytonas

 By: shafran : February 14th, 2024-22:55
I had the dato perpetual, I had the 5270. Now into sportier watches 41-42mm.

There's no way I could ever let go of either of those two fantastic watches. Maybe that explains why a collection totaling 4 is not possible for me. If I could have limited myself to 20 or even 30

 By: InDebtButOnTime : February 9th, 2024-06:11
those two may have been attainable. No AP in my collection (yet) but I do have a Parmigiani and a few other respectable pieces. Four is a fantasy but having only those particular two is a nice fantasy too!

I'm in a similar dilemma myself, which I'll post later

 By: 1WatchMan : February 9th, 2024-10:23
If you want to limit the number of watches, I would say that indeed, they are too similar to keep both. Which one to keep? That's the problem, I fully understand you, it's really horrible to make these kind of decisions, because they're different watches ...

Keep the PF sell the ROC and get a steel version instead

By: Mohannad (aka Riddler) : February 13th, 2024-06:50
Preferably the newer models with open case back and new movement
