There is no good solution in this context:
- you do one with an enamel dial and people don't understand why a new color pops up years after
- you do one without an enamel dial and at a more affordable price and people complain that it is not enamel and that the price is lower.
Actually, the problem for me is not enamel or not. The black dials from Lange are usually beautiful and I tend in some cases to prefer the non enamel ones. The problem is the price topic for the collectors who purchased one of the first pieces.
It is the reason why it is a complex topic.

I am really disappointed with Lange. They are addicted to limited editions, and shortchanged the people who bought early. This time round they made the price even lower than the rose gold model, for a white gold model! Why would I want to buy new launches...
Doesn't the rose gold model have an enamel dial, while the white gold model has a standard dial?
That is a big differentiator, and should affect price--perhaps that is not sufficient in your mind, but they are different watches in at least that important way.
I am torn here.

Like I said, I love it, but also do not appreciate the lack of 'email' dial. But I really want it. Damn this is hard to decide.

The issue is not about enamel or non-enamel
It is about the simple fact that Lange announced the PLM as a limited 200 edition. This approach of trying to come up with variations to "side-step" their promise is going to dent their brand and customer trust. regds

That's in line with the new Saxonias at 37mm; and the Saxonia Moon. I don't see a problem with that, as long as Lange keeps its overall numbers down.

More affordable watch, they should not have used the same model as the limited edition version, despite enamel or non-enamel. Instead, to your point (saxonia) perhaps the regular production model as the RL would have been more appropriate to differentiate...

I think a new version at the same price would have not done very well. AFAIK the previous version was not moving very well..so they had to be realistic in this market..but I understand your frustration.
Not the first time Richemont & ALS frustrates me....
Maybe I should start collecting another watch brand... or just focus more on my other collections. I can only say that a few of my friends, die hard collectors of ALS, are not pleased at all with these developments.

Regarding the plm. I can\'t comment on Patek though, other than their annual calendar co-signed with tiffany. But, there are noticeable differences with their recently launched 5396 as well as the regular model had a price that was similar (i believe).

Everything you say was about to be in this post of mine. I'll just add that there are still only 468 of these RLPLMs out there; and only 250 will (presumably) ever be in RG with an enamel dial. That is still quite exclusive.

That's a genuine question. I would hope that Lange's actions did not surprise any collector who is knowledgeable about the brand. Lange's behavior has engendered similar (if not identical) feelings on several prior occasions. See my post above for example...
