A. Lange & Söhne

Touchy subject

This is not really but it depends on the approach. When you say:

"There is the sale man's view and there is the collector's view"

"would think that most amateurs with a feel for vintage would always go for the original model of virtually any watch model. Some lead other follow."

"It also happens that 39mm is about the perfect size for a modern watch"

then, you can understand how people might feel when reading it. This is not a caricature, this is a quote. That's what I wanted to react too.

And I never said "nowadays it is the vintage legitimacy which is considered automatically as best", it is exactly what I hear too much and I don't agree with. However in my last answer to Nicolas I understand how it could be a comparision basis when considering watches.

What I said is:

"I [...] think that somes watchfans, as long as a watch looks vintage or is older, automatically consider the one which looks more "vintage" is better."

But you don't seem to understand what is my point or I'm maybe not expressing it the right way.

Anyway, I'll stop here as I don't feel it will lead anywhere.

Cheers, Mark
