I have some watches, yes
By: cazalea : September 13th, 2019-15:49

It was an interesting epoch for IWC
By: ChristianDK : September 22nd, 2019-08:21
I am surprised there is a remake. I wasn’t aware! By IWC ? It seems I’m not the only one in the world who find the model interesting. The remake is a bit different in that you see your arm trough the compass. Thanks for posting this!
My kingdom for a safe queen
By: psfparis : September 13th, 2019-05:32
My queen outside its kingdom To be honest it is too much money on the wrist. I commute everyday and don’t want to over expose it... sad world ...
Now, that is one beautiful watch!
By: ChristianDK : September 13th, 2019-06:14
I agree the world is becoming dangerous to watch collectors, sadly. The hobby has become more mainstream and with that much more attention on your wrist from criminals.
Superb 👌....

True story as relayed by my pal Scott, who posts here . . .
By: Dr No : September 13th, 2019-19:52
. . . occasionally under the log-in sdd7820: Scott was shepherding a group of new employees at a company function when he noticed a young lady wearing what appeared to be a Paul Newman. Figuring it had to be fake, he angled for a closer look. Sure enough,...

By: Cpt Scarlet : September 14th, 2019-02:22
I completely agree with what you said about giving your great pleasure just looking and winding them. It’s the same for me with the Zenith D’Aéronef Type 20.
Its a good point. Some pieces Can be enjoyed evening not on the wrist.
By: ChristianDK : September 14th, 2019-05:35
“Safe queen” often has a negative connotation, because watches are meant to be enjoyed on your arm. I basically agree with this point - but I’ve also learned that there are exceptions and that is ok as well - as long as they are enjoyed
Sometimes just the ...
By: Cpt Scarlet : September 14th, 2019-05:54
Experience of winding the movement with the watch in your hand is an enjoyable experience
Submariner 6205
By: Franksc7 : September 13th, 2019-10:00
The only “safe queen” I have ever owned. A one owner (my father) Rolex Submariner 6205 bought new in 1954 for less than $100. The current value coupled with the Radium Dial relegated it to a lonely life in my safe so I recently let it go to an avid collec...

By: Tim Jackson : September 13th, 2019-13:45
Up first is my paternal grandfather's watch from 1946. A Bernex purchased to celebrate the end of WWII. Cased in an English 9K YG case, it is quite delicate being a terribly thin gauge, hence a "Queen" plus the sentimental aspect! The second offering is a...
Superb cushion case that Bernex!
By: Mike H : September 13th, 2019-14:48
When I think of all the ones thinking that Panerai invented the cushion case… ROFL That Bernex is definitely a beauty with a wonderful story behind, wear it in the best of health ...

Easily my safe queen is this Leonidas
By: Brandon Skinner : September 13th, 2019-16:05
Something I probably bought 15 years ago, pretty much on accident placing a maximum bid on eBay, never thinking I would win. I don't own anything that is too precious to wear, with the exception of this only because its giant and isn't something which eve...

Oh, wow. Didn’t know the Leonidas
By: ChristianDK : September 14th, 2019-03:18
I seems this theme works in the way that we are seeing some exotic stuff (it was my hope) Can you please tell us more about it? 🤗
How about the never been in a safe queen!
By: timerider : September 13th, 2019-18:36
This new piece just arrived today! Use your zoom to figure out the maker. It is light as a feather and has a concave back to make it even more comfortable. More pictures to follow if you are interested. Best, Tim ...
Thanks to all you guys!

I am in the middle of a heat wave with parents that need help this weekend. I will do a proper write up soon with more pictures and watch data. I know I was off topic but you know the excitement of a new watch!! Best, Tim ...
What a beauty you have there, Christian.
By: Brandon Skinner : September 13th, 2019-19:33
Something totally unique to what’s being offered today by the brands. Amazing condition and look. It’s too bad you can’t find the time to wear it, but that’s only because of all the other incredible pieces in the stable. Great theme this week, thank you! ...
Thank you so much for your kind words, my friend.
By: ChristianDK : September 14th, 2019-03:23
Yes IWC was such an interesting rand once. I once read that the collaboration with Porsche Design became a problem for them in the way that it became too popular. This one is absolutely mint. I have the full set and I don’t believe the previous owner wore...
Here's a safe queen . . .
By: Dr No : September 13th, 2019-19:59
. . . without rational explanation . . . . . . for extended hibernation. It's the most personally significant in my collection, and a type I enjoy wearing. But it can spend a year or more in the vault without coming up for air. Finally on my wrist, for at...
Not only is that an amazing story
By: ChristianDK : September 14th, 2019-03:25
It is just a damn good looking piece. Is it because you worry something could happen to it that it spends so much safe time, Art? Thank you for playing.
My preference for manual winds is one reason, Christian . . .
By: Dr No : September 14th, 2019-08:13
. . . but really, I'm not sure why it tends to stay locked away. Yes, it is precious in a sense no other in my collection can match, but there are others - Tiffany, for example - that also tend to hibernate for longer periods than others. Speaking of Tiff...

By: Jay (Eire) : September 14th, 2019-06:54
For several reasons some watches have always been safe queens and others have become so. The latter usually due to changes in value (it is what it is). Here’s one the fits the former, it’s just never been worn, by anyone. And I just can’t bring myself to ...
1965 if I remember correctly.
By: Jay (Eire) : September 14th, 2019-10:44
It is one of the earlier ones, but not the original run which I think had the same dial, same small black second hour hand BUT a different caseback. The first run, which was 1964 had the Olympic flame on the caseback, initially etched and then later stamp...
+1 a nice plain calf strap is an excellent idea

Fantastic, Frank!!!
By: ChristianDK : September 14th, 2019-10:47
You found some pictures of it. Im not a Rolex expert but this is just stunning. great entry!!!
I like everything about this watch except wearing it
By: cazalea : September 14th, 2019-21:41
Dial, hands, cool complication, overall look ... If it was a pocket watch it would be perfect, but as a wristwatch ... Ok, well it’s too heavy, and setting date with a pusher or toothpick is a bit retro, and I might have overpaid (and/or prices are soft)....
It’s a good looking piece
By: ChristianDK : September 15th, 2019-06:17
I’m surprised you said that it is too heavy as it looks like it fits your wrist well. It’s looks like a nice movement.
Lots of gold and heavy movement
By: cazalea : September 15th, 2019-08:09
I did a measurement on the weight of these three gold watches Halter=82g GO Panorama Date Moon=112g GO Chronometer=169g It’s more than double the weight of the Vianney Halter Classic! Mike ...
Ok , yes - that is a heavy weight
By: ChristianDK : September 15th, 2019-08:15
I’m jealous about your VH. I’ve considered it many times. My fear was if it would get enough wrist time. Also if it would be fragile with those sharp edges so it would only be for very special occasions. What is your experience with it as an owner?
Safe Princess
By: cazalea : September 15th, 2019-08:29
Only comes out on special occasions or around the house, I’m afraid. But it hasn’t got many scars, thankfully. Vianney said a polish back to new condition takes almost an entire week, so just wear it. ...
That’s a truly interesting one, ChristianDK 👍🏻

Let me add some of mine. The Seiko 2220-0630. A Playboy branded watch but having a hand wound hi-beat movement and palladium case - from 1978, IIRC. My Breitling Aerospace. A graduation present, which I love most dearly but wear very rarely nowadays. A Po...

The combination resulted in a very specific, very Germanic design language on the one hand and some spectacular technology on the other. The divers you mention - so thin for the water resistance, that many watch manufacturers nowadays would do well to emu...
Well, I’m a sucker for a bit of dandy swag LOL
By: ChristianDK : September 17th, 2019-21:28
I can’t think of the number of times I’ve wanted to pick up one of the Porsche divers. I think they have potential to become classics down the road. Certainly, they are very cool and wearable?
Absolutely!

It’s a good looking piece, my friend
By: ChristianDK : September 15th, 2019-06:22
Perhaps if you found a really nice strap. I did that with my grandfathers gold omega. I wear it on special occasions like the day I got married and sometimes around the house.
