MTC: Similarities: precious metal, complications, dial collar Dissimilarities: design, recognition, popularity, bracelet/strap I would think there would be room in a collection for both but if you insist on a four watch collection, one may have to go.

Getting rid of the ROC and replacing it with an Offshore makes good sense.

I like the PF more than the ROC, without question. Now if it were the current 41mm ROC with new movement and proper date location, I would keep the AP.

Looking at the 4 watch collection...

...not crazy about the pushers on the AP but I prefer the contrasting sub-dials on the AP vs PF. But if you get the ss Off Shore you'll be heavy on AP...arguably not the worst scenario one could find one's self in but still if variety's a consideration......

Wearing th parm now

4 watches is not enough space for two chronographs

Let alone two solid gold, blue faced chronographs. The PF is more low key, and to my eye, slightly prettier. Choice between the two might depend on the other three watches you keep. But you're brave trying to cut down to 4.

I would keep the AP.

You had a couple before and it seems that you returned so that should mean something…

While that

May not be the right aesthetic choice for you, it’s probably the right choice from a collector’s perspective

4 watch collection?

By: loopsandsounds : February 9th, 2024-04:05
My mother always said “if you don’t have anything nice to say….” But since you asked….no! Of the above…life is too short to have four watches in precious metals and blue dials. If you said “forty watches”, game on! I’d take a Daytona, Datograph, PP perpet...

I had daytonas

I had the dato perpetual, I had the 5270. Now into sportier watches 41-42mm.

There's no way I could ever let go of either of those two fantastic watches. Maybe that explains why a collection totaling 4 is not possible for me. If I could have limited myself to 20 or even 30

those two may have been attainable. No AP in my collection (yet) but I do have a Parmigiani and a few other respectable pieces. Four is a fantasy but having only those particular two is a nice fantasy too!

I'm in a similar dilemma myself, which I'll post later

If you want to limit the number of watches, I would say that indeed, they are too similar to keep both. Which one to keep? That's the problem, I fully understand you, it's really horrible to make these kind of decisions, because they're different watches ...
