Nautilus Chronograph …

By: Cpt Scarlet : January 3rd, 2025-11:54
I hoped and dreamt about this watch from the first time I laid eyes on one and one day I got “The call”. Happy memories ! ...

It was a satisfying moment …

By: Cpt Scarlet : January 5th, 2025-12:58
It’s also quite fun when encountering a car salesman brandishing the obligatory Rolex. ( nothing against Rolex but you know what I mean)

A particularly memorable occasion …

By: Cpt Scarlet : January 5th, 2025-13:21
Was the time I was negotiating over a new car with the salesman, a nice guy with a Rolex steel DJ. Eventually he called in backup in the form of his dealership manager, a portly man with a full gold Day-Date, 40mm, diamond dot dial, literally swinging fro...

ROFL 🤣

By: KMII : January 5th, 2025-18:16
You really should read ‘Arrogance and Accords’ - the story about rampant corruption at Honda of America. Apparently Honda dealers we’re amongst the top Rolex customers, as they needed to bribe the HoA execs with them practically every visit 😉

Definitely makes for nice reading…

By: KMII : January 5th, 2025-22:31
There’s even a Mercedes SL in there somewhere, if I recall correctly 😊 Apparently the slogan of the MD was, ‘You don’t earn millions here but you can live like a millionaire’ 😂 Quite a long time ago but interesting story. Ended in a fairly famous court ca...

Will choose Old School.... Philippe Dufour's Grande Sonnerie

By: enjoythemusic : January 3rd, 2025-12:58
If i'm going Old School, may as well get the very best truly HAND MADE timepiece possible Plus, as a musician, would like to hear her 'whisper sweet things' in ways only she can do. ...

Yes, 100%...

By: enjoythemusic : January 3rd, 2025-13:06
...and then i woke up and realized it was all just a dream. Classic olden-time watch and music.... Enjoy the Music

Waiting for the owner of Pele Plantations to return from vacation . . .

By: Dr No : January 3rd, 2025-22:24
. . . to place an order for their Kona peaberry beans. I've been on the last pound for a few weeks now, gotta replenish the pantry. If I had to choose between quitting either beer or coffee for the rest of my life, beer would get the axe. ;-) ...

Ha ha ha!! Beer or cofee? you got the answer dear Art!!

By: Subexplorer : January 4th, 2025-23:13
I remember a lady friend of my family visited us some time ago (she lives in USA) and viewed a bag of that same coffee on our kitchen counter and she exclamated: "The Rolls Royce of coffee!!" Lol!

Hello dear Captain! What a great Theme for our first WS of this year!

By: Subexplorer : January 3rd, 2025-13:13
Your Nautilus Chronograph is truly a dream and I can imagine how fast your heart was beating that day when you received “the Call” and when you visited the shop to take delivery of this magnificent watch. Answering your theme I will share two of my “dream...

Fabulous dreams, now a reality …

By: Cpt Scarlet : January 3rd, 2025-14:09
Hello dear Abel, The Patek 5510 is a watch that I have also dreamt about but never quite made a reality. This has been mainly due to not quite finding the example that fits my personal criteria. I must correct this. You know my passion for all things Moon...

Thank you so much for your kind comments dear Captain!

By: Subexplorer : January 3rd, 2025-19:05
I love WT watches and feel PP makes the King of them all. The first references are so lovely and charming as high their prices. Later references offer different variants to choose from. A very interesting and magical complication they offer. The original ...

Agree Captain. I still need to ask Omega for their archives info.

By: Subexplorer : January 6th, 2025-21:02
Hopefully this year will ask them. By one reason or another I left this important matter pending. Will keep you posted.

Two wonderful dreams turned real, Abel!

By: KMII : January 3rd, 2025-19:48
And both watches are so you! Love how you change the character of the 5110 with the way you pair it to straps and the Moonshine is a watch truly for you 👌🏻👍🏻

Hello dear friend KM. Thanks a lot for your too kind comments. I´m glad you like the 5110 straps combo. A big compliment coming from you as an exquisite straps Master!

By: Subexplorer : January 4th, 2025-14:31
Both the Moonshine and the original 145.022-69 are the crown of my Speedmaster collection. I only regret I have very few opportunities of wearing them here. Have a nice weekend my dear friend. Abel

Oh my!

By: KCLQMULKU : January 4th, 2025-22:51
The WT is a superb piece and always admire the beauty of this PP, not to mention practicality and elegance. As for your Apollo XI, wow!!! It would be a treat to see the engraved back!

Thank you so much KCLQMULKU for your kind…

By: Subexplorer : January 4th, 2025-23:31
… comments on my two dream watches. Agree with your thoughts on the 5510. Here a shot of caseback. Number is three digits from a total of 1014 watches made of this model. ...

Thank you!!

By: KCLQMULKU : January 5th, 2025-00:34
Such a beautiful watch. This is one of the occasions (for such a watch) where it can be forgiven to have a solid case back!

This is "the one"

By: Thomas_3 : January 3rd, 2025-14:32
that I have always wanted since seeing them as a kid, many years ago. I would walk past the AD at the local mall and stare at the window display of Rolex. I knew they were something special but at time I didn't know anything about watches (some would argu...

Good to hear your dream journey …

By: Cpt Scarlet : January 3rd, 2025-15:16
I had a DateJust and enjoyed it for many years, finally trading it for a Submariner. I wish I still had it. Maybe time to find another one. Which Cartier tank are you dreaming about ?

Probably a Tank Must.

By: Thomas_3 : January 3rd, 2025-15:49
Really considering giving the quartz version a try. The Santos does creep into my head every once in a while, but I think I'll follow my heart and go with the tank. Don't want to trade anything for it so I'll keep what I have and just add the Cartier.

Not 100% sure on the quartz choice yet

By: Thomas_3 : January 3rd, 2025-17:04
but leaning that way. Only person that would know is me. All my others are automatic or manual and I haven't had a quartz watch since I was a kid, may give it a try.

A lovely story of going down the rabbit hole 🕳️

By: KMII : January 3rd, 2025-19:51
And keep telling yourself the story about the Tank - it may happen this way (and it’s certainly a lovely watch to strive for) 😊👍🏻

By: E in PA : January 3rd, 2025-16:10
I’ve always wanted one of these, but it was always a condition or timing of purchase issue. Those two aligned last November and I was able to find one the worked for me. It’s the perfect size and a lot to wear. ...

Rolex Professional …

By: KURT_DAVID : January 3rd, 2025-17:11
Took a while to achieve. Now realised I’m going to live it!😀 Happy New year!🍺 ...

Making dreams come real…

By: KMII : January 3rd, 2025-19:53
Is a wonderful feeling - glad it worked with this one for you. And we all benefit from your spectacular shots of it 👌🏻👍🏻

I smile 😃

By: KURT_DAVID : January 4th, 2025-07:46
when I think back to when I purchased it. My AD had four different models (available for purchase) for me to try: 2 Explorer 2 (Black & Polar) a 39mm Explorer and a s/s GMT-Master 2 LN!! What a dream collection that would have been if I’d had the funds lo...

This way the one you picked…

By: KMII : January 4th, 2025-09:11
Gets a much larger share of wear time and memories - there’s a value to that, too 👌🏻👍🏻

Oh God! Those were the good old times when we were able to visit a Rolex AD having several models to choose among. (I really hate those small labels with "Not for sale/for display only" ...

By: Subexplorer : January 4th, 2025-14:55

Yes Abel, what a delightful experience it was,

By: KURT_DAVID : January 5th, 2025-13:11
the sales assistant was definitely pushing the GMT-Master and think I surprised her with my preference for the Explorer 2. Who knows in a year or two I might get the chance to repeat the experience of choice. All the best dear Abel. Regards, Kurt.

I´m happy to know you enjoyed the experience so much. Even if the sales assistant was pushing for the GMT the most important thing at the time of buying a watch (or any other...

Hello my dear friend KM! Pilot and Driver´s licences at 18 years old in the same day!! Wow!! That´s truly an achievement! Good to know about all these...

By: Subexplorer : January 4th, 2025-16:06

As said, some are still out there 😊

By: KMII : January 4th, 2025-18:56
Not quite over. But I am happy with the collection as it stands for the moment 👍🏻

Happy New Year Art …

By: Cpt Scarlet : January 4th, 2025-12:27
The Flightmaster, I completely understand your passion for this watch. It’s difficult to find good examples that haven’t been spoiled in one way or another. I shall keep looking and one day I’ll find a good example. Vintage Omegas have such charm. As for ...

Hello dear Art!! Three great dreams come true you share here. We share the love for the Flightmaster and as a matter of fact you made possible my own dream to get mine.

By: Subexplorer : January 4th, 2025-16:17
Mine is a keeper for life and my Friendship Flighmaster forever. Your first Omega reunites several lovely features: It is a Connie with a black dial, honeycomb, gold arrow head indexes and a beautiful dauphine handset. That makes it unique I feel. The Dur...

So was Omega the original watch love then…?

By: KMII : January 5th, 2025-13:06
Or was it a later one? Three very nice dreams and all three fulfilled 👌🏻👍🏻

Actually, Rolex was my first love . . .

By: Dr No : January 5th, 2025-16:37
. . . and my first wife was GO. But Omega was like the girl next door, under-appreciated until her time finally came. Like most Americans, the third marriage is the best.

Has to be this one

I appreciate your kind words! 🙏

By: KCLQMULKU : January 4th, 2025-22:43
Yes the original Sun Moon had the perfect size which I felt was lacking in the Grande Date.

Dreams do come true 👌🏻👍🏻

By: KMII : January 5th, 2025-13:09
Especially with a bit of patience and determination. Great watches 👌🏻👍🏻

Why magazines & websites are dangerous

By: jml_watches : January 4th, 2025-22:12
Hi All The one watch for me that stands out for me for this theme is my Futurematic. Early on started getting watch magazines & it had an article on Futurematics & from that point in I was sold. Took a while and a couple of attempts, but I'm glad it's her...

By: Cpt Scarlet : January 5th, 2025-12:29
You make a good point, I remember when watch magazines and other media were an important part of collecting. I personally ended up hunting watches inspired this way and before the C24 era. You certainly made a great choice.

Thanks - dropped on it in a shop in London

By: jml_watches : January 5th, 2025-13:32
Always happier to go and see a watch, was at a well known shop on the Strand, which is now sadly gone. Got my Memomatic from there too - the infamous/fatal , I'm only going to look! Cheers JML

If magazines are dangerous…

Don’t even think of going to a place called Watchprosite 😉😱😂 Many dreams get passed on here and they are truly difficult to resist 😉

This site is most definitely responsible for this

By: jml_watches : January 5th, 2025-13:28
Hi This site offers inspiration & distraction. It is wholly responsible for me getting this Even ordered it from Japan, as it was JDM only to start with. Did daily it for almost 5 years, so definitely worthwhile too Cheers JML ...

This is a watch I love so much among the many beautiful and interesting watches in your collection. I can understand your enthusiasm for this model.

If I ever cross my path with one of these Futurematics (and in this great conditions of yours) I wouldn´t hesitate to take it home. Regrettably I never seen one being offered in my local hunting grounds. But who knows... the collectors journey is long and...
