Well, for me this year
...was the Year of the Simplicity -- but who wants to see any more photos of that old thing, right? 
So, instead let's focus on an unexpected addition that I picked up only yesterday as a reward for a year that was a hard slog, but looks to have set the groundwork for a successful 2013:
