It surely was!
I happened to come across this gem when I was windowshopping one day back some 15 years ago. Most probably the 2nd hand shop owner thought it's not worth much just because the movement is a "Universal" instead of "Cartier". With a little knowledge about how Cartier used to hallmark their watches on the lugs, I acquired it without second thought. And years later, another watch shop owner, who had worked for Cartier, saw me wearing it. He was excited and asked if he could take a good look. Unofficially though, he "authenticated" it to be an original Cartier vintage！🍾🥂

My Longines reminds me of my grandfather who was a farmer as he was wearing a watch similar to this one. My Explorer II reminds me of my dad, who gave me the white dial version some 25 years ago, which I later sold (regrettably!) ...
