Here’s a gentle irony…

Art, as we grow – errrr, more mature – the list of great concerts, and regrets at not having seen them, grows longer. One therefore has to be a little more abstemious in the exchange of body parts as the fictional price of admission.

Why the ‘gentle irony’? Well, your namesake looms large for one of those instances – Paul Simon and Art Garfunkle at Central Park . This would have been worth a digit or two:

Others?

Who would not want to have seen JH at Woodstock? Indeed: did any of us do so? Take a few more digits:

Then there was Live Aid – UK and USA.  Amazing combinations of artists, and this foremost amongst them –

Additional kudos to Phil Collins (and Concorde) for the Herculean performance in two hemispheres.

This one? More for the event than for the music, perhaps (though the music ain’t all bad), but you can have an appendix for this one –

Whilst on the subject of iconic concerts with a significance greater than the inherent musical value,  you can have a spleen (appropriately) for this one:

This one creeps up the anatomical exchange rate: a talent-packed testimonial for the Big O. Perhaps, given Roy’s circumstances, this would be worth an eye:

You can have a limb for this one (can’t find live footage, but here’s ‘the’ track from the 1974 Tower Theatre Philadelphia concert):

But you can name your price for this one:

This is one thread that will have to be re-visited often and for some time, Art – thanks for the idea. Oh: here’s a watch. J

Cheers,
