the fact that many of the "high end" clients between 1870 and 1940 purchased their ebauches from JLC, and to see JLC take first and second place - with the points awarded, considering the above article - makes me stick my chest out proudly for the greatness that is "the quiet company."
This is not to take away from Dean's (the OTHER Dean) watch, which is a beaut! I think getting a pocket chronometer with the heritage and pedigree of THIS showpiece is a treasure worth seeking, and I believe we'll start seeing more pocket watches being offered at auction, as well as offered to the public (GO and GP, seemed to have kicked it off, recently) in current catalogs. (Oh, and Breitling for Bentley keeps putting up one or two pieces per year, based on the famous JLC 19/20IMCSQ, etc. caliber.)
Great piece, Dean. Truly one to save a copy of, print out and review a few times.
