It's about TIME too...

Sorry for the pun, Andrew ;-)  It has been frustrating for us gear-heads that, for the past several decades, issues of aesthetics and design overwhelmed the basic fundamentals of good timekeeping.  I think a certain defeatism occurred following the quartz crisis, which wasn't helped by COSC testing that simply evolved into marketing hype.  The tide has turned!  I believe that the current resurgence of mechanical complications, new escapements, tourbillons, etc., will find purpose in competitive time trials and salute JLC for getting out of the gate first.
