ened case back gives me mixed feelings too .... i think i saw this also on a SEIKO and it killed the watch ! IMO and as i can see on the pics they should have done a black caseback ! Like you Nicolas, neither do i get it, it seems very odd for sure. Maybe... 

of coatings and rubber on the watchcase because it takes away the everlasting impression and appeal of a watch. The normal maxi marine in steel is nicer, though not the fancy coloured ones.

when I saw the initial post, I was impressed..... I saw in metal about a month ago and had also mixed feelings... Although I do like black watches, this is not my favourite..... The case back should have been black and I do not like the "limited edition" ...

I think it is one of the best black watches going. Your pictures have a bluish tint; for those who have not seen it in person rest assured the coating is ultra black. I can't argue with your caseback sentiments, but you certainly do not see any polished m... 

And of course, you don't see the polished non blackened case back while the watch is on the wrist. Don't get me wrong, my friend, my heart beat faster and stronger when I saw it in the flesh, but when I looked at the case back, I was a bit deceived. Agree... 

. . . like a well-dressed woman wearing heels and socks - the polished steel caseback is noticeable in every photo. I can't think of a technical reason to account for the decision, other than avoiding liability for scratches caused by less than careful wa... 

It was a real surprise, for me... We should ask why... Best, Nicolas

I can hear my Omega Seamaster Pro saying "When I grow up, I wanna be a UN BO!" I like the power reserve indicator, oh that all (mechanical) watches had that. BO, not PO (and not Sub neither)... =:^D

... is due to the part's material. Traditionally, the Marine series watches have a polished titanium back. Maybe - I am far from being authoritative on this - it is too difficult to combine the DLC with titanium? Anyway, thanks for the great pictures! per... 

There is no particular problem, nor difficulty to DLC a titanium case, Marcus. My guess is that it is a choice from U.N to not DLC the case back. You have a point on the legibility, although in real, it is more legible than in pic, but a Blue wave does be...
