... is due to the part's material. Traditionally, the Marine series watches have a polished titanium back. Maybe - I am far from being authoritative on this - it is too difficult to combine the DLC with titanium?
Anyway, thanks for the great pictures! personally, I have some mixed feelings, regarding the Black Ocean. When I have a sports watch, I demand a good legibility, and dark grey SuperLuminova just does not fulfil this requirement for me.

not a fan
of coatings and rubber on the watchcase because it takes away the everlasting impression and appeal of a watch. The normal maxi marine in steel is nicer, though not the fancy coloured ones.

when I saw the initial post, I was impressed..... I saw in metal about a month ago and had also mixed feelings... Although I do like black watches, this is not my favourite..... The case back should have been black and I do not like the "limited edition" ...

And of course, you don't see the polished non blackened case back while the watch is on the wrist. Don't get me wrong, my friend, my heart beat faster and stronger when I saw it in the flesh, but when I looked at the case back, I was a bit deceived. Agree...

There is no particular problem, nor difficulty to DLC a titanium case, Marcus. My guess is that it is a choice from U.N to not DLC the case back. You have a point on the legibility, although in real, it is more legible than in pic, but a Blue wave does be...
