No doubt that Freak X required some serious engineering effort to realize, and is aesthetically interesting watch. I for one would have had no issue if the brand has presented this as a more accessible 'tribute' to the Freak while at the same time presented a new 'real' freak model pushing the innovations further, as it was the brands promise to use the Freak line as an R&D lab.
What I'm finding hard to swallow is that the Freak X is almost being presented as the new evolution of the Freak, while stripping the concept from it's very essence.

The answer is in your question: Not a Freak anymore. A Freak is something which is far away from the beaten paths. This one is too close from what is a watch, especially the crown.

The problem with the watch is the name. A "Freak" can never have a crown.
If we could go back in time, and this watch could have launched before the real Freak, it might have been a nice precursor of what was to come. But that would have reduced the impact of the real Freak, which was one of the most industry-shattering launche...

On its website, UN is very straightforward about what the Freak X is and isn’t. I think it’s being presented as an entrée into the Freak zone, if you will — while being clear that it is not a full-on Freak. I think that’s very fair. Looked at a bit differ...
