Interesting comments. I must say that I am still true to the original concept of the Freak because that was truly an original concept.

Interestingly, several weeks ago I was working with someone who was wearing a watch that had the outward appearance of a Freak but had a crown and was a clear knock off. Now I see a watch that looks similar to that one. I didn't inspect the watch when I saw it as we were busy but it had the same appearance of the dial side as does this one (the person wearing the watch certainly did not have a prototype as he is not engrained into our world).
From a business and marketing point, maybe this makes sense. Constructing a more "affordable" model may be the basis for this but I agree with the sentiment above. I think that this hybrid is not the progression of the Freak that I would like to see.
I long for the days that UN would blow us away with truly unique technology that are not trends but true innovations:
The Trilogy
The jacquemark pieces
The GMT +/-
The Perpetual GMT +/-
The Sonata
The Stranger
The original Moonstruck
The Innovations 1 and 2 (with the subsequent incorporation of the technology into pieces to follow)
The anchor escapement
And others.
just my opinion.
