Hello all! After reading about this, I'm glad I bought a Samsung Blu-Ray player! What does everyone think of such shenanigans? -MW from google news article: Blu-ray Maker Re-Boxes $500 Player, Charges $3,500 Above you see two Blu-ray players. On the botto...  

The fact that the entire chassis of the other player was inside the $3500 model is amazing. For some reason the first thought that pops to mind right now is, "There's a sucker born every minute." Oh, well. If you have the extra $3,000 to burn then why not... 

Well used to this?!? I don't understand the problem. Isn't the aluminum face, nicer font and buttons, and Lexicon brand worth far more than $3000? TM

I wonder if those that bought the Lexicon really thought the blu-ray put out a better picture. Kinda ridiculous that Lexicon could even try to defend it! Hmmm, definitely reminds me of the watch industry!!!! -MW

I guess if you already have other lexicon products you could afford to match! That's a huge premium to pay for the name. Funny that they got caught and still play it off like it's no big deal and that they could justify the extra cost. -MW

By adding a second, aerospace-alloy, vibration dampening exochassis, Lexicon effectively reduced the transmission of environmental microphonic noise which would otherwise have been insufficiently filtered, leading to am unpredictable photonic distribution...

They could've done something even trivial, such as increase the surge protection and the "refinement" of the electrical power supply. But they didn't even do that... That would've been an easy fix.

Yes, note the anglage and clean lines of the Lexicon, the high tech case material, and its gently tapered feet. Finally, of course, the Lexicon dazzles us with the "panda" disc tray and display. Clearly, they went the extra mile and their machine is a cut...

**post by Ir77 moved as it was a response to this post** I went to BestBuy to buy some HDMI cables.... The cheapest they had was 70$ for a 6ft cable... which I think is insanity. Found HDMI cables on Amazon for 3.20$ delivered! I bought 3 just in case som... 

lord knows I love my barbeque! But, fair is fair...all cables are not alike. quality of connectors quality of the connection of those connectors (soldering, etc) quality of the actual cable (litzed, pure drawn, individually isolated/insulated, etc) qualit... 

Not an argument about audio cable! How do you know your evaluation was ceteris paribus? In any case, Monster Cables?? Come on...Reference Lab for me (I get them free) As for the Lexicon, personally, I think they should print some grubby fingermarks around...

Ahh, the lack of nuance in internet communication strikes again (either that or my sarcasm came across like my normal writing...ooops! ) There are definitely differences and sound is not the only factor. Durability, ease of splicing and changing connector...

you're sending a bunch of 010101010 down the cable, wouldn't it just be a matter of the cable actually being able to carry the signal from your tv to your blue ray and that's it? would a pure digital signal really be that susceptible in a 4ft distance tha... 

Hi, ir, do cables and connectors POSSIBLY make a difference with analog signals? yes, of that I have no doubt. can cables and connectors make a difference with digital signals? I'm less sure, but aren't digital signals still vulnerable to bandwidth issues... 

Like the saying: "if you build it, they'll come..." I don' t know if a lot of things I bought are really worth the money, but as long as I like them (and can afford), then why not?

Some audiophile somewhere is willing to spend hours arguing that the Lexicon sounds better. Well worth the money. LOL. I'm a LINN a-holic myself, for the last decade or so... Very funny. Thanks for posting. John
