TimeOut

My 70s/80s playlist

Music is an integral part of every day for me.  Here are my favorites from the time period in question.  It is hard to choose only 10 tracks.  smile  Great topic, Vlad!

1. When the Levee Breaks -- Led Zeppelin (Just a wicked blues-rock song.  Zeppelin was the band that started me down the road to all things music.)
2. Wild Horses -- The Rolling Stones (I dream about dancing to this song at my wedding one day.)
3. You Can't Always Get What You Want -- The Rolling Stones ("You can't always get what you want/but if you try sometimes, you just might find/you get what you need."  Ain't that the truth!?)
4. In My Hour of Darkness -- Gram Parsons (Because he dubbed his brand of country rock "Cosmic American Music" and is one of my musical heroes.)
5. Sweet Home Alabama -- Lynyrd Skynyrd (Best Southern Rock song of all time IMO.)
6. Close to You -- The Carpenters (Karen Carpenter is my all-time favorite female vocalist)
7. Dreams -- Fleetwood Mac (Pretty much everything from the Rumours album was ridiculously good.)
8. Don't You (Forget About Me) -- Simple Minds (The Breakfast Club, John Hughes movies, MTV...this song screams 1980s)
9. Don't Dream It's Over -- Crowded House (The lyrics are amazing.  My eyes swell with tears every time I hear it.)
10. Sweet Child O'Mine -- Guns 'n' Roses (Because I still break out my 80s hairband albums and enjoy them.  I miss the golden age of G 'n' R, Poison, Whitesnake, Skid Row, Warrant, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, etc.)

I feel like I could go on and on.  I haven't even touched on the U2 or REM catalogues.  They both released seminal albums in the 80s.  Plus, I'm missing Pet Shop Boys, Duran Duran, Wham!, Madonna and so many others.

Oh, well.  It's a start!

Cheers,
Daos
