I did not mean to offend, and agree with much of your retort.
However I did not recommend the steak restaurant BECAUSE it was Forbes "most expensive". I have been recommending it long before Forbes took notice, and I recommended it because it is really very good. The comment was just an additional enticement that some people might find a reason to go, but obviously not you, and I was wrong to pre-judge.
Japanese food is actually really bad these days in London! Really gone downhill since my mother sold all the restaurant.
Glad you tried Kubei. Most people have issues with the price and the smallness of the nigiri, but it is great sushi with the best seafood.
I just named Kubei as an example. My personal favourite is Hayashi in Shinbashi, but I stand by Kubei anytime as an example of traditional high quality sushi.
Oh and by the way, I love Shirako!
I suspect we could have a wonderful discussion in person one day. You are obviously a worldly man of outstanding character and incredible knowledge and I would surely have much to learn.

The extensive use of gold flakes does not make it the best! To be honest, the ingredients do not look that great (the uni for example), and the maki techniques look amateurish. I certainly hope LA can offer better. The Shirako looks terrible ! And served ...

Hi, Dean, Again we butt heads (but in a most amicable way! :-) ) I have tried Kubei, three times, and I did like it; several hardcore Japanese friends hate it. Go figure, huh? (BTW I've tried both locations...) I agree about the gold flakes, not my taste ...
