It has only taken me six years to decide on this!!

Apr 13, 2024,14:52 PM

When the rose gold Credor Eichi ll was launched in 2018, I rushed to my AD to try it on but unfortunately the watch did not ignite the necessary passion from within me. The porcelain dial, hand painted numerals, the ultra smooth glide of the seconds hand and the magnificently finished movement would have been enough to sway the most astute of enthusiasts but I remained stubbornly unswayed!

Fast forward to 2024 and while visiting my AD last week, I noticed a platinum Eichi ll staring at me seductively so I thought I would rekindle my Eichi experience. I tried it on and it felt and looked so much better than my previous attempts. My AD could see that my eyes were gleaming away and then decided to prey on my vulnerability! (a skill which he has perfected!) He asked me if I would like to try on the rose gold version that had just arrived and I thought 'why not'. Famous last words!! smile  I was totally blown away when the watch was placed on my wrist. I asked myself 'had I become more mature in my watch collecting journey' or was my newly tanned skin (the result of spending most of my time on the island of Langkawi) a much better colour for the rose gold Credor..

Whatever the reason, I told my AD to reserve the watch for me for a few days until all the new releases at Watches and Wonders were out.  Now I don't know about you guys but I wasn't too impressed by the new releases this year apart from perhaps the Rolex 1908 in platinum and the Chopard jump hour. I have to thank all the watch brands for this general dismal showing because it has allowed me to finally purchase an Eichi ll.

It has only be a day but I can tell, this watch is a keeper. It just seems to be so much watch for not too hefty a cost relatively to some of today's offerings. Put a famous Swiss brand name on a watch of this calibre and I believe the RRP would triple!  The Eichi ll has always been one of the best three handed watches money can buy and I am humbled to finally be the proud owner of one.

I am quite content

Many thanks!

I am in total agreement but I am somewhat biased. No idea why it had taken me six years to pull the trigger! Almost a no brainer for most

Thank you!!

May you satisfy your lust very soon!

One of the best three hander, truly a grail

Nice journey, whether it's maturation, or just how tastes evolve, it doesn't get much better. Similar to you, the 1908 caught my attention..I just would prefer manual!

Me too!

 By: sham1 : April 13th, 2024-15:41
I would love a manual 1908 too but hey, with the way allocations go these days, I will be happy with a dummy 1908!

A very beautiful watch!

Congratulations and wear it in good health!

Thank you Gary for your feedback

 By: sham1 : April 13th, 2024-15:43
For an esteemed collector like yourself to say so, it is truly appreciated.

Youโ€™re very kind to say that.

 By: gary_g : April 13th, 2024-15:56
The great thing about this hobby is that we can all like different things and still appreciate may be arenโ€™t for us at this particular time. But it is a journey and an open mind is a must!

You are right about keeping an open mind

 By: sham1 : April 13th, 2024-16:54
and never saying never! Timing is everything and what I may have loved 20 years ago, I would never dream of wearing today

I feel the same way.

 By: gary_g : April 13th, 2024-21:07
Several years ago I divested from many watches. Just didnโ€™t feel like they represented what I liked any more. Got rid of Cartier, IWC, bulgari, chopard and something else I donโ€™t even remember. I consolidated my collection to just several brands and kept ...

You are in watch nirvana Gary!

 By: sham1 : April 14th, 2024-00:26
You have weeded out the ordinary watches and have kept only the very best, watches that have become a form of art!

Exactly 100%

 By: gary_g : April 14th, 2024-01:23

I may sound like a broken record Gary

 By: sham1 : April 14th, 2024-02:13
but you have quite a collection. Well done on setting the standards!

Doesn't get any better!

An extraordinary and special piece. I'm a big fan of time only watches. The rose gold case is lovelier than the platinum imo. I asked the boutique in NY if I could see one. They said they were all in Japan and if I wanted to see it I had to leave a deposi...

I am very sorry to hear about this requirement from your dealer.

 By: sham1 : April 13th, 2024-15:48
Many dealers I do know operate on this system but to me it is their loss because part of the watch buying experience is the customer service offered. An Eichi ll will always sell and any dealer who gets an opportunity should stock on or two in their shops...

Thanks, we agree.

 By: mblum3 : April 13th, 2024-17:02
Again, congratulations!!

Thank you so much!!

 By: sham1 : April 13th, 2024-17:12
I have a very small collection so every purchase is a huge event for me!

Me too!

 By: mblum3 : April 13th, 2024-19:19

Ah Bless you!

 By: sham1 : April 14th, 2024-00:22
I have a simple policy which I follow strictly. When I buy a watch, another has to go. In this case it is my unworn Kikuchi Nakagawa Murakumo which ironically is worth more than the Eichi ll in the secondary market. ...

With a new flagship boutique, several thousand square feet, the idea that they cannot easily have one for you to see is silly.

 By: Jay (Eire) : April 13th, 2024-16:49
Iโ€™d ask again. Especially is you are serious. There will be Eichi passing through Iโ€™m sure. Iโ€™d also reach out to Joe Kirk directly.

I was just told the very same thing!

If only they knew how lucky they would be

 By: sham1 : April 13th, 2024-18:11
to have you as a customer!

With those conditions ...

 By: bimbeano : April 14th, 2024-11:42
.. you can book a flight to Tokyo and have a wonderful trip without paying more than what the dealer is asking for.

Congratulations, Sham!!!

I'm a big fan of the Eichi II myself, the movement undoubtedly has some of the best anglage out there! We'll need more photos of this one!

Thank you so much!

 By: sham1 : April 13th, 2024-15:50
Let me get a proper photographer to take some photos because the watch at least deserves that!

Ultimate stealth watch...

 By: mdg : April 13th, 2024-16:36
...that looks great on darker skin : )

I just have to maintain the skin tone! :-)

Thank you for your feedback!

If I played golf in Langkawi

 By: sham1 : April 13th, 2024-17:24
I would end up unrecognisable as it is 40c there with high humidity. Just an hour in the pool a day has done the trick for me

You are not missing anything!

 By: sham1 : April 14th, 2024-05:48
It is stifling to say the least. Heat without humidity and heat with humidity as you know are quite different. I shall suffer silently here and ogle at my watches as a consolation

I totally agree!

 By: sham1 : April 13th, 2024-17:13
It reminds me of the first generation Honda NSX. 30 years ago they could not sell. Now, they are like gold dust!

Big congrats!

 By: patrick_y : April 13th, 2024-17:30

Thanks Patrick!

 By: sham1 : April 13th, 2024-18:08

Agreed 100%

 By: sham1 : April 14th, 2024-15:30
Totally under rated like the first generation Honda NSX!

Excellent!

 By: RabidManatee : April 13th, 2024-17:38

Thanks for saying so!

 By: sham1 : April 13th, 2024-18:09
I am just surprised more purists have not acquired one!

Wow!

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : April 13th, 2024-17:45
I'm negotiating for one with my wife now!

She sells Credors too?! :-)

 By: sham1 : April 13th, 2024-18:12
You need to ask her what handbag she fancies

She made a deal

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : April 13th, 2024-18:47
If I live through chemo and surgery, then she will buy me something nice. An rg Credor Eichi II would be nice.

Well, in that case you'd better beat that bloody cancer!!

 By: sham1 : April 13th, 2024-19:31
I wish you well my friend and a Credor would be a lovely gift from your wife!

I'm looking forward to seeing one on on my wrist!

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : April 13th, 2024-19:40
In the meantime, please keep sharing pictures of yours! Much appreciated!

Thanks a lot for your message!

 By: sham1 : April 13th, 2024-19:33
I tend to be very slow at deciding whether or not to buy a watch but hopefully this will remain in my small collection forever.

You bought a world class handwound three hander

 By: agyzace : April 13th, 2024-19:30
Not many watches sit above it, if any at all. Enjoy this amazing piece!

I could not agree with you more!

 By: sham1 : April 13th, 2024-19:33
Thank you for your kind words.

Gorgeous!

 By: sham1 : April 14th, 2024-00:24
I love the subtlety of your watch.

Many thanks!

 By: sham1 : April 14th, 2024-15:29

Pure elegance and style

By: Blue and White : April 13th, 2024-23:13
What a beautiful choice, I salute you and wish you to wear it in good health, dear Sham.

Thank you very much for your good wishes!

 By: sham1 : April 14th, 2024-00:27
It does bring a wide grin to my face every time I see it, wind it or wear it!

Stunning piece !

 By: bimbeano : April 14th, 2024-11:42
Jealous again

Thank you very much for your feedback!

 By: sham1 : April 14th, 2024-12:01
If you really want one of these, I am sure it will only be a matter of time before you will have one.

My only fear ...

 By: bimbeano : April 14th, 2024-12:03
.. is the funding of such a piece . Well, you never know off course.

I am convinced if the funding was an issue currently

 By: sham1 : April 14th, 2024-12:09
you will get there eventually. This watch is priced very competitively for what it represents and unlike some of today's watches that cost a lot more than the best of cars, this one costs no more than a good family saloon. Have faith and you will be defin...

And people forget this

 By: sham1 : April 14th, 2024-12:39
but how many other brands can boast a zero price increase in six years??!!

Thank you Salman!

 By: sham1 : April 15th, 2024-01:40
The truth is that this amazing watch would look great on almost any wrist!

Huge congratulations ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽŠ๐ŸŽˆ

 By: KMII : April 23rd, 2024-04:20
Definitely a keeper, this one ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

I am in total agreement with you!

 By: sham1 : April 23rd, 2024-04:36
Thank you very much. I am not a fan of deployant clasps but the one on this watch is very comfortable.
