If you want the watch because Steve McQueen wore the watch, as stated in amanico's review, the Rf. 1655 was never actually worn by Steve McQueen.
If you are collecting vintage Rolex watches, I think you would want one of these eventually. It would not be my first choice for a vintage watch. A 5513 or 1680 Submariner or a Ref. 1675 GMT Master are more to my liking, more iconic, are not too difficult to find, and except for the Red lettered 1680, should cost less. I would get a vintage sub first, than a vintage GMT... than actually a 1016 Explorer next. A Paul Newman Daytona would be great to have too, but the costs would make it a no from me.
As a "practical" watch, the dial is IMHO the worst dial Rolex ever came up with, but this is subjective.
Ultimately, as with every watch, some like it, some don't... the only question really is does it smile to you?
