Nicola's review:
Some additions about the evolution of ref. 1655
Luisa, i come as someone who was only recently attracted to the Explorer. I am not sure you are following the same path as me, but you do seem to look in similar areas. For me, I have a broad collection of Rolex concentrated in Daytos and DRSDs. But then i look at the collection and like to "fill the gap". The Explorer is a variance of Rolex that I did not have, but felt that it would be fun to add that to the main body of my collection. Its almost as if the collection is not whole without an Explorer.
For me, i went for the straight hand version of the watch simply because it was the very first version...the original Explorer II. Collectors will have viewpoints on collectibility. Some will say the straight hand is the most original to collect. In reality, you just need to look at the various types and one will call out. It did with me. Then of course, the orange will have faded to a certain extent....resulting in the Albino Explorer. I prefer to call it the Snow White. Of course, you can go for true original and look at the very first Explorer, and then you get into some very unusual history.
My Explorer arrives in about 2 weeks. WIll look forward to comparing notes.
You're on to get an Explo II, my friend?
That is excellent news!
I'm sure you will love it a lot, Joe.
Keep us updated, please!
Best,
Nicolas
