I want a tough watch!

While of course still being stylish and acceptable in lots of situations. The advantage of Rolex, it's what they're known for in some circles. The submariner is probably the only watch you can wear over a long hard day of commercial diving and then to the bar where 'the wettest thing around is a dry martini', because it goes so well with your black tie. We've all seen that ad!
So I'm thinking the only viable alternative seems to be a Genta design and the one I can afford is the IWC Ingenieur. I need to go and try it on though, plus I'm interested to see what they come out with in their next iteration of the model. This is al very important to me as I'm sure you understand, I like the idea of having a watch that I can wear almost anywhere in a pinch. So I don't have to change, and I can go from in the water to at the bar, so to speak

I've been bitten by vintage Rolex before, it really turned me too to be honest boys! Plus I want it to be fully functional, waterproof etc. I'm thinking maybe waiting to see what the next refresh of the Ingenieur is like, I love Genta's integrated bracele...

I love vintage Rolex as much as anyone, the problem is the place of this watch in the collection is the 'go anywhere, do anything' watch. I'm really not sure what beats it, objectively speaking.
