I stopped playing these stupid games

If a brand doesn't want to sell me their product I spend my money somewhere else.  It's their loss not mine.

Just a couple of examples.

A few years ago when the Panerai PAM 662 came out I refused to play the usual games of begging ADs or asking boutiques to be put on a (non-existent) list.  I emailed every single Panerai boutique in the USA on the same email (all address on the To line and not BCC) and said I wanted to buy a brand new, factory fresh 662 and that I was a repeat customer (two other SEs bought from boutiques).  A day later I get an email from the Dallas boutique who are holding my watch for me.

Last year when the Speedmaster Hodinkee 10th Anniversary was announced I called one of the Omega boutiques in SoCal and told them I wanted to buy the watch and would only put a down payment if I was guaranteed a watch.  The manager contacts HQ in New Jersey and says they have one allocated for me.

I've bought several other watches the same way.  I tell them what I want and I'm willing to pay right then and there.  If they start to play the stupid games I "walk" and someone else earns my money.

As consumers we have the power in the retail relationship as long as we refuse to play these stupid games.
