Forget evidence and proof. The tourbillon, for what it is, can be a thing of beauty and true art. People buy things for many reasons - if its becasue they think its more accurate, or cooler, or fun or a merge of this incrediblly digital world with a more simpler, romantic time in history - if the tourbillon doesnt appeal to you, then it doesnt.
John, your comment about the point of mechanical wristwatches is, to me fact. We don't need 'em at all these days - and we certainly dont need a mechanical, split seconds chronograph that has so many beautifully finished bits and bridges and gears and arms and levers, and cams, and teeth oh my. you can read the dial anyway.
I love watches for their art, quality and design. Accuracy, while important in my wristwatches, I get from Verizon.
