Hi Eric,
Thank you for your candor - its nice that we can have this type of dialogue here....
Regarding your comments about a tourbillon being for "dress watches" -
I dont disagree, but it has to do with the total overall asthetic of
the watch. To me, the diving tourbillons are somewhat silly - but the
RM is utilizing what was once a cutting edge design (AL Breguet's
life) and has inspired an entire new genre and style of wristwatch
design which, for better or worse, has inspired countless copies and
blatant imitators.
I think its a bit harsh to say that someone with look silly wearing a
RM tourbillon. Maybe I'm misinterpreting your post, but that's what I
believe you were implying.
Also - regarding your comments about a Tourb not being simple - I discussed this a bit below in my response, but I was refering more to the overall design and appearance of the watch, not the complication per se. Last I checked, the split of the 004 is probably the most complex looking watch I've ever seen. I have a lot of respect for that particular watch but I need to be able to read the time. To me, form and function have equal weight. The 004 is a beautiful watch and one which is worthy of anyone's consideration when refering to RM.
What's interesting to me is that you appear to be an avid supporter of this brand, but if you dont believe that the tourbillon fits into the "design" of the watch, that might casue a conflict. But, that's why all brands make multiple models - so that you and I both buy watches!
.
Be well and thanks again,
Adam
