Patek Philippe

Being in Florence , Italy, since last Thursday, I paid a little visit to the local official Patek Philippe retailer, located on the legendary Ponte Vecchio . There, I was kindly offered to try on both the 5270P-014 and the 5204G-001 . I think the 5270 is ...  

in the best of ways. I thought it would be loud, but it is simply beautiful. Best, Emmanuel

and yes, 5204 wears weird on the wrist due to its proportions. 5270P is nicer, but I felt that the green is too special for a regular daily use so I declined

Can you share any photos? The only thing I can say is that the case of the 5204 didn’t wear nicely on my 16 cm wrist. Best, Emmanuel

They’re also featured on the 5270’s dial and on most (all?) recent PCs. My favorite PC with the cleanest dial and the most attractive case would be the 3448. Best, Emmanuel

The 5270J is warm and has a nice vintage feel ! The green seems louder in the photo but is good to hear about your opinion on the wrist. Complication wise 5204P is a gem but the thickness has always been a question for me. Out of the three, I prefer the 5... 

J is all about vintage discretion, as you say, and green P is modern and eye-catching without being loud. I really don’t know which of the two I would choose. Best, Emmanuel

But now that I have your feedback on the watch my reservations for it have picked up. Personally I wouldn’t bother with these two references. I’ll get a 5970 as it is still attainable. A 5004 reference is way less attainable now. Best Gatsby

but if you want platinum, the price will probably be much higher than for a 5270. Even if I know how iconic this combination of complications is, I think I prefer them to be featured separately. I’m very happy with my Cornes de Vache and, as a PC, I think...

both 5270 and 5204. I have the white and salmon 5270. The green is very attractive too. But 5204 is on a different level, although the G is a bit dull. My favourite is the platinum black dial. Btw, that 5270J looks awesome on your wrist.

but the case thickness doesn’t fit my wrist. 5270 wears much better for me. And you have two wonderful examples. I liked 5270J quite a bit but I also like the variants without tachymeter scale. And I wonder if I don’t prefer the two complications separate... 

but the 5270 wears much better for me as well. The 5004 is even thicker but you don't hear much complain about it. Combining multiple complications is also a complication itself 😊 Here is the 5204P-011 I have tried. I was worried about the upside-down moo...  

and the thickness almost identical (over 14 mm) I wonder how it wears on the wrist…

Although I much prefer 5970 in any metal to 5270, I like the 5270 a lot, particularly the dial layout, with only one function at each of the registers at 3 and 9. I also appreciate that the movement is fully in house. In the unlikely event that I were to ... 

Like you, I like the less cluttered registers of the 5270 at 3 and 9 o’clock. And like you I think that the absence of tachymeter scale suits this dial well. However, even if I know how iconic this combination of complications is, I wonder if I don’t pref... 

As far as Cornes de Vache, I think that it is about as good looking as a chronograph can be. I remember long ago when the original in yellow gold was highly desired and brought very high prices. A big congratulations on owning that beautiful watch and the...

The 5204 is an amazing piece in itself. It just doesn’t sit well on my wrist, unfortunately. Best, Emmanuel

I traded in my 5270G-001 to raise funds for my first 5204(R-011) and have never looked back. The 5204 fits me so well I have added another to my collection (5204G-001) and they are both in my daily rotation. No issues with fit on my wrist at all. 40mm cas... 

and owner’s feedback on these watches. You obviously know them much better than I do and, as the 5204 fits your wrist perfectly, I guess there’s indeed no reason to prefer the 5270. All I can say is that during this try on experience, the 5204 didn’t feel... 

For me wears better on my 16.5cm wrist than the 5270. Can’t go wrong with either, just preference. ...
