Although I much prefer 5970 in any metal to 5270, I like the 5270 a lot, particularly the dial layout, with only one function at each of the registers at 3 and 9. I also appreciate that the movement is fully in house. In the unlikely event that I were to acquire a 5270 my possible choices (no chin) would be R - silver dial, G - blue dial and P - green dial. Of those 3, my choice would probably be the P. I like the lacquered dial a lot. It's platinum and the dial is very open, without no tachometer (which IMO shows the lacquered element to its best advantage). Also the P is available pre-owned at an extremely attractive price, relative to 5970P and relative to 5270P's full retail price.
